As chief customer and strategy officer, Bob Hughes is responsible for ensuring that every Kronos business decision contributes to long-lasting success for its 30,000 customers around the world. Driven by a customer-first philosophy, Hughes’ teams are committed to connecting, inspiring, and empowering customers – helping them to leverage Kronos’ continuous innovation, global resources, and unmatched industry knowledge to maximise their technology investment.

In leading the company’s global services organisation – including professional services, education, customer renewals, and customer success – Hughes and team deliver an exceptional experience by building a deep understanding of each customer’s unique business needs to optimise their Kronos solution with unrivalled domain knowledge across all vertical industries. Hughes is also responsible for developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining the company’s strategic plan, including pursuit of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic investments, and continued global expansion to benefit customer success. To that end, Hughes oversees various acquired business units within Kronos, including AD OPT, AutoTime, the Clinical Solutions Group, Digital Instinct, Empower Software Solutions, TeleStaff Solutions Group, TimeLink, and Stromberg.

Hughes joined Kronos in 2009 from Blackbaud, a global software and services provider, where he built and led a successful M&A team as vice president of corporate development. Over several years, his team identified and integrated numerous acquisitions which spanned the U.S. and international markets, helping to double Blackbaud’s size.

Prior to Blackbaud, Hughes was an investment banker in the global M&A group at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York, where he advised companies on strategic alternatives such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and leveraged buy-outs.

Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Academy, and served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
